new layout again

so I'm back to just plain old white. I just couldn't stand that pink & gray weird one anymore. I still am waiting for someone to rescue this blog and make it cool. If you don't know what I'm talking about, see this recent post. thank you.

and we're back

something was messed up with the passwords or something with our website so that's why I have been absent from the blog... but now there are 3 posts for you to read! ok, that counts this one and the one that says "test," but really, I want to make sure you all read my lenten hymn post. I've been working on that one for days - while we were trying to figure out why it wouldn't publish.

Lenten Hymn

As Good Friday is approaching, Bobby (as leader of our church's praise band) has begun rehearsing a song that appropriately celebrates Jesus' ultimate sacrifice on our behalf. The song title is "O Come and Mourn with Me a While" and was written back in 1849, but the arrangement that Bobby is using is from Indelible Grace and the music was written by one of his classmates from seminary, Eric Ashley. It is a beautiful hymn. You can listen to a demo MP3 of it on IG's website here. But I recommend buying the CD, "Indelible Grace III: For All the Saints" so you can listen to the beautiful voice of Sandra McCracken sing it over and over again like I do (as well as all of the other great hymns on there!)

Here are the 4 verses of "O Come and Mourn"

O come and mourn with me awhile, o come ye to the Savior's side. O Come, together let us mourn, Jesus our Lord is crucified.

Seven times he spake seven words of love. And all three hours His silence cried. For mercy on the souls of men.

O break, o break, hard heart of mine! Thy weak self-love and guilty pride. His Pilate and His Judas were. Jesus our Lord is crucified.

A broken heart, a fount of tears, ask and they will not be denied. A broken heart love's cradle is. Jesus our Lord is crucified.

And the chorus (wow):

O love of God! O sin of man! In this dread act Your strength is tried. And victory remains with love. Jesus our Lord is crucified!

It's Walmart Day!

Today is the day that our county's first Walmart opens! I am so excited. They have been talking about and building this Walmart since we moved here nearly two years ago - so it's been a long time coming. Now I know I'm fortunate that even though we live in the middle of nowhere, I can get to 3 Walmart Supercenters within 40 minutes, but this new one is only 10 minutes from work/church! Hello, 1 hour lunch break shopping trips!! We did not go to the 7 am ribbon-cutting ceremony this morning (I'm not that crazy), but we are headed there as soon as we get out of work today at 4. I am so ready to save money and live better today... in my own county. Gotta love Greene!

Lamest Blog on Block

I am really sick of my blog. The layout, that is. I've currently been on a blog obsession lately, and not only have I read about some really cool people, I've found some really cool blogs! Even some of you I know in real life (Annie, Anna, and Becky to name a few...) have really cool new layouts too. I'm very impressed!

So after seeing all of this cool inspiration, why is mine stuck in the early 2000's? Well, two things...

First, we own our blog (see the address, www.bobbygriffith.com?) which means it's not a "blogspot" or "blogger" blog per se, so I can't easily go in and change the template like the rest of the blogging world. I go to all these "free templates" websites and follow the instructions and it just doesn't work. Now, over on our youth group blog, I've been able to take advantage of these new free features like side bar menus and links and such. (but of course, I haven't done much with it in months b/c apparently that was not as great of a communication tool as I thought it would be. I'll probably just delete it soon, because Danielle would just say that it's taking up cyberspace.)

So what's the point of owning our own blog? I ask Bobby all the time and he says that b/c we actually OWN the material we post, not Blogger/Blogspot. So I guess if the country keeps heading into the socialist state that it's going, who knows, maybe Blogger will get crazy and not like what I post and start deleting people's material. I hope that never happens, but in that case, they can't touch my stuff. Because it's mine! ALL MINE!!! I have no idea if that's what Bobby really meant, but that's how I interpreted it. So, back to the reasons my blog is hideous.

Number two - I am completely internet/computer un-savvy. I can follow step by step directions better than anyone I know (joking), but I really don't understand what the heck I'm doing. I have no idea what an isp, or html, or a *blah blah blah* is. Maybe I should take a class. So I'm sure that there is an easy way to reformat my blog even though we "own it," but until I can find the step by step instructions for it, I'm stuck with this boring, ugly layout and I hate it.

Can someone help?

Another fun(ny) post

The material is not very deep on my blog this week. First we talk about Big Happie Hair "tools" and now, The Office. We joined the bandwagon late on this show because Bobby worked nights while in Seminary, and I felt guilty enjoying it without him. But fortunately we're pretty much caught up on all the episodes thanks to reruns on TBS and "THE INTERNET." oooooooh. Well, in addition to watching the show, I love to check out The Office-related websites such as officequotes.net. Oh my gosh, it is so funny to relive the humor of the show by reading the quotes. Like this line by Jim last night, "I have a lot of work to do this afternoon. Those mines aren't going to sweep themselves." Ha! Well, the new Office website I found today is dedicated to Angela & Andy's wedding. Yes, the event has been cancelled, but luckily for all of us, NBC has not deleted the site. The newest entries are pictures from the Nard-dog's "honeymoon" travels. Classic.

Bump it!

I did not watch the Bachelor this season, but I did watch the finale last night and here's the reason why... there was a two hour episode of 24 last night from 8-10 and it was PHENOMENAL! I mean, it was action-packed, intense, just plain awesome. But afterward, I was wound up and hyper and there was no way I was falling asleep anytime soon. So I decided to watch something a little light-hearted before going to bed, and boy, did I get myself a laugh or two from watching the Bachelor! Quick recap... "the Bachelor" Jason was the runner-up in the last season of the Bachelorette, everyone felt bad for him, so they gave him his own show. Well, he "chose" the girl last night (taped months ago), leaving the runner-up shocked & depressed (like what happened to him last year.) So he shows up last night at the "After The Final Rose" show (this is a live show) with Melissa (#1) and breaks up with her! Then Molly (#2) comes out and he says sorry, I messed up, can you give me another chance??!!?? Bobby and I were just dying! This was so stupid & pathetic. And the dumb phrase of the night was, "follow your heart." BLEH! I could just throw up.

So what is the point of this nonsense?

Why am I wasting everyone's time with this post??

MOLLY (the #2 girl) WAS WEARING A BUMP IT!

You know, the hair contraption thingy that I mentioned in my last post. We both recognized it immediately and started laughing even harder. Aahhh, reality tv. I don't have a screen cap picture of it yet, but when I find one, I'll update the post so you can laugh too.
